I'm Amanda, a 21 year old Florida girl. I'm a student at the University of North Florida, where I'm majoring in Journalism. I love music, the beach and driving. My friends are my family, and I love hanging out at the movies, the hookah bar or a rock show. Done and I’m onto the next one.

Well, I knocked something off my list. I got a tattoo last night. The Boychik went with me, and thank God for that. I honestly thought I was going to be sick to my stomach, I was so scared on the way there. I wanted to do it, though, and I did, and the Boychik will tease me for years about how I turned all sorts of colors while I was on that table. Still, I’m really, really glad he was there, and I’m glad I did it. I’m definitely pleased with how it turned out. One of these days I might post a picture, but I want it to heal up first. It’s definitely not that pretty right this second. (Okay, it is, because it looks awesome, but it’s a bit red, and there’s no reason to go posting that image.)

I’ve come close to completing other things, too, except I’ve missed specifics. Last month I treated Mom to dinner one evening, but I chose the place: Longhorn. We hadn’t had steak in forever, so we went out. It was my first time ordering an alcohol drink, too. (Not on the list, just a happy little event.) Lo and behold, their watermelon margaritas are amazing. Huge. And amazing. Amen.

Also got to the Fondue Haus once or twice since the list started, but we haven’t done entrees, just appetizer and dessert (which is really all you need there, because it’s so filling), so I’m not sure I should count it.

The whole family’s planning to go visit Aunt Mary for a week over Thanksgiving. It’s not quite what I had in mind when I wrote the list, but I didn’t specify, so I’m not going to sweat it. The important thing is that I get to go back up there and visit my family. I love those people. My little cousins are amazing.

And in terms of cleaning out my closet and redoing my filing system… We’re slowly planning/beginning to work on my room. Aunt Kathy, who’s got a lot of experience with interior decorating and the like, came and took a look at things, did some measurements… She’s in the process of drawing up floor plans and such. We’ve got ideas; we’re just figuring out how to implement them before we get started.

I guess that’s the State of the List address for now; I really need to get a move on here. There are so many things I want to get done; I’ve just got to focus and get to work.  Which reminds me. 19 days til classes start. Ugh.

Why do weekends have to end?

Final exams just can’t get here soon enough. I can not wait until May. The last of my exams are May 1, so close and yet so far away. The following week, I’ll be starting a guitar class at the community college here for a few weeks, and the week after that I’ll be going to the beach with my family. I am so looking forward to a vacation.

I need to get back on track with my blogging, too; I like blogging daily, but making time to do it or finding something to write about has been a challenge lately.

The weekend was pretty good, despite an awesome sunburn Saturday. Friday night I took some money I’d saved up, and my mom and I went shopping so I could get some summery clothes. For reference, it is AMAZING what a well-fitted bra can do. I was trying on this top, and one of the clerks in the store went out on a limb to ask when the last time I’d been fitted was… needless to say it had been a WHILE. I know I SHOULD get it done about once a year, but… it had been about seven or eight years. Eheh. Oops?

Just put me in the car and drive so far…

Head still hurts, but I’m waiting for my Tuesday evening class to start, so I am bored.

Last week was much busier than I had anticipated, hence my general absence. I had rehearsals Monday, Wednesday and Friday nights, and I spent all of Saturday at the theatre for tech rehearsals and the play itself. I think it went pretty well; Mom and her girlfriends liked it, and the Boychik and Dante seemed to like it well enough.

School is getting tougher; I mentioned earlier that finals are only a few weeks away. This is a great thing because it means that soon enough I’ll be out of class for about three and a half months. It’s less great because it means finals are coming. eugh.

Spring Break: Play-by-Play

Well, that was not much of a spring break. I still didn’t get a day to sleep in as late as I could. It’s sad, really; sleep and I used to be such close friends.

Because a lot happened last week, I’m going to condense a lot of smaller post into one long bulleted one. It’s just more efficient.

  • Sister is okay. She had surgery last Monday to have her tonsils removed. While the procedure went well, the following week was horrid at best. She’s finally gone 24 hours now without throwing up, and she looks much better tonight. She’s talking and even eating a little bit, so we’re pretty sure she’s on the mend now. Thank God for that; she had me worried.
  • Holy Week is over! Holy Week is one of the busiest times of the year for the church, and it is finally over for a whole nother year. In case I haven’t explained it before, I am a secretary at a church. I am also the daughter of the Director of Christian Education at said church. This means that I spend a great deal of time at the church, either for my own job or to help my mother out. Considering Mom had to stay home with Sister all last week… last week was a lot of work, which is now over. Yeees.
  • Spent what time I could with the Boys. I love them. They make my life that much better.
  • I got… an interesting text message Monday morning. That is a blog for another time; the story is too long to post here, especially since I was a great bonehead and accidentally deleted the messages, so I can’t post exact quotes. Bad blogger, I know. I’m sorry.
  • Dante and I work well together in the kitchen. We learned this Tuesday night when we made my mother’s stuffed meatloaf. I know the standard response to “meatloaf” is a grimace and a slow retreat, but I swear this is the best meatloaf ever concocted. It’s stuffed with ham and cheese, and it’s brilliant. I’ll think about posting the recipe one of these days. Maybe. At any rate, we made it from the recipe as Mom dictated over the phone, and, aside from being a bit sloppy-looking, it was really pretty good. I was just a little proud.

There was, of course, much more, but it is very late, and I am one tired girl. Had rehearsals tonight for The Vagina Monologues. It will all be over Saturday night, thank God. Still more on that later… Right now, sleep.

Spring Break!

I know I’ve been missing for a few days. Sorry.

As of last Saturday, I am on spring break. This means I am hanging out with the Boychik and Dante a lot. I am trying to sleep some, too. I might not manage regular posts this week. But I will return with them Monday, at the latest. Until then, I might be a bit sporadic. Believe me, I have a story for yall, and when I have time to sit down and write it the way it deserves to be written, I will definitely put it up here.

Now, though… sleep.

There are no strikes in NaBloPoMo.

Okay, does it count if it feels like 11:40? I’m still getting over losing an hour! Have mercy!

…I’m guessing it doesn’t, and so by day 11 I have failed NaBloPoMo. Disappointed though I am… nothing could have been done today. Work was busy, and from work I was in a mad dash to go home, shower, straighten my hair, tutor my Pupil, get to school, meet with my group for Advertising, go to play rehearsals… After rehearsals, I met up with the Boychik and we took a good walk around part of the campus, which was nice, since we didn’t hang out this weekend. By all rights, I need to distance myself from him. I know this. In my head, I know it. Blah.

I will have to blog about that later. Right now, I need to get some sleep, because tomorrow I get to wake up early and do another mad dash. Lately, I’m having to use the little notebook I carry in my back pocket to manage a daily to-do list/schedule just to be sure I get to everything. It’s remarkably helpful. Generally, I use it to write basic reminders to myself, dates I need to remember, writing ideas, funny quotes… now it’s becoming an outright planner. The poor dear.

Leaving the weekend behind always sucks.

Despite the fact that I got absolutely nothing done, it was really a very enjoyable weekend. Friday night was generally uneventful. Saturday I met one of my band mates at the church for a little jam session, and later that afternoon the Boychik came over for some one-on-one time. We popped in Lord of the Rings and settled down to enjoy doing absolutely nothing for a few hours, or at least until our friend Ash got off. We picked up my other boy, who shall hereafter be known as Dante, and drove around looking for some dinner before grabbing a spot in a parking lot and loitering for a few hours.

Yesterday started off horribly; my guitar died right before the service. I took it to another bandie’s place afterwards, and he fixed her up, so she’s okay now, but… well, let’s leave it at the-morning-sucked. The Boychik called me up that afternoon to see if I wanted to hang out while he got his oil changed. I am always up for hanging out with the Boychik; who was I to say no? I tossed the homework aside, and the Boychik showed up with Dante. We spent the afternoon wandering around, generally, before going back to my place to watch a couple movies.

Seriously, I can hardly ask for a better weekend. Sunday, hanging out with the Boychik and Dante and the Boychik’s sexy car at Sonic… Those are some fantastic times. Those two make me laugh so hard, and I love them for it. I need to start carrying a camera around more often so I can get more pictures of them; they’re really more attractive than either of them knows.

The Boychik! He comes bearing movies.

Well, today is March 1, the beginning of NaBloPoMo , and therefore the beginning of daily blogging for 31 days. It would really be far more appropriate to list my goals in my first post, but… the Boychik is here, and he takes precedence. So… I’ll do an actual post tomorrow. Eheh.

Candy Shop? Really?

I mentioned in my previous post that one good thing has come out of my experience at UNF. He is The Boychik, and he is, without a doubt, one of the great loves of my life. I joke sometimes that soon he’s going to know more about me than God, but I might be right. I can tell that boy anything, and he doesn’t just listen… He understands, empathizes and knows exactly what to say to help. We are so comfortable around each other. I love that I don’t have to pretend around him. He might be the only person on this green earth I am completely myself around.

That said, I will probably quote him quite often here. Last night, we were watching American Idol from our respective homes, and we were chatting about it on AIM just as we do face-to-face.

The Boychik: WOW that bitch has a BIG forehead
Me: And a deep voice.
Me: Regardless of her unfortunate wardrobe… I am thus far not totally offended.
Me: She’s not QUITE soulful enough for this song
Me: …ok, REALLY not soulful enough, THAT was weak
The Boychik: wow I feel bored
Me: Thank God, SHE knows.
The Boychik: I can’t stand her…
Me: At least she KNOWS that was bad.
The Boychik: I love how she has no idea what he just said to her
Me: …Seriously? She heard NONE of that, did she.
The Boychik: no, if you paid attention, you could actually see her playing “candyshop” in her head
