I think facts say a lot more about a person than a simple explanation, so here are 10 facts about me.
- I have never moved in my life. I have lived in the same house since the day I was born. Additionally, I live next door to my father’s parents.
- I have an immune deficiency found in only 2% of all people who have immune deficiencies. Doctors peek into my room “by mistake” to ask if I’m that case they heard about.
- I wrote a book on Latin, for which I won an award at the state Latin Forum. In fact, I have won nine awards, total, for my Latin proficiency.
- I majored in Creative Writing in high school. Yes, I went to a high school with majors. It is an arts school you must audition to be accepted into, and I studied writing there for four years. I earned an arts seal on my diploma for completing the school’s major requirements.
- I am one of the few born and raised Southern girls you will ever meet who does not like sweet tea. Don’t ask me to explain how it happened; somehow, I just never developed a taste for it. I am also one of very few writers who does not much care for coffee.
- In a game of Truth or Dare, I always pick Truth. Ask me anything you want, but God help me if I am going to do something outrageously stupid just to prove myself in a silly game.
- One of my goals this year is to swim a mile in less than 50 minutes again. It’s been a long time, and I miss it.
- I name my cars. My first car was a 1994 Pontiac Sunbird called Natalie. She was a bit of a lemon, and I got rid of her a year later in favor of a car that actually ran, a 2000 Hyundai Sonata I named Meg. She’s sassy, and her sound system makes me happy.
- My grampa–not the one I live next to, but my mother’s father–was a rocket scientist. No, really. An honest-to-God, literal rocket scientist.
- When I was little, I wanted to become a marine biologist. My dream was to train marine mammals at Sea World. I still feel that way every time I see a dolphin show or the like.
